DIA (; Korean: 다이아; shortened from DIAMOND and backronym for Do It Amazing) is a Southward Korean girl grouping formed by MBK Entertainment. The group is currently equanimous of half-dozen members: Eunice, Jueun, Huihyeon, Yebin, Chaeyeon and Eunchae. DIA officially debuted on September 17, 2015, with their lead single "Somehow" from debut anthology Do It Amazing.[1]

Seunghee left the group in Apr 2016 to focus on acting. Eunjin decided to leave the grouping In May 2018 to focus on her health. Jenny also left the group in July 2019 for health bug. Somyi departed the group in January 2022 afterward she had her contract terminated.

2015: Do It Amazing [edit]

In February 2015, MBK Entertainment announced its plans to debut a new daughter group. Originally, the company had decided to have possible candidates for their new group compete on a reality survival programme.[2] On February 10, Kim Dani was confirmed to be joining the project and announced the program's proper noun T-ara's Little Sister Girl Grouping.[3] In June, MBK Amusement announced that they had cancelled their plans for a survival program, and decided to select the members internally. The last three members, Yebin, Eunice, and Jenny were revealed and the grouping was fix to debut in August under the name DIA.[4] MBK announced a line-up with six members: Eunice, Huihyeon (originally under the phase name Cathy), Jenny, Yebin, Eunjin, and Chaeyeon.[five] Seunghee was added to the line-up before the group'southward debut. On September 14, 2015, DIA ultimately released their cocky-titled debut studio anthology, Exercise Information technology Amazing.[half dozen]

2016: Line-up changes, Happy Ending, Spell, and subgroups [edit]

Eunchae (introduced with her real name Chaewon) joined every bit a new member in March 2016,[7] [8] and in April, Seunghee was confirmed to have left the group.[9] DIA's outset mini-album Happy Ending was released on June fourteen, 2016, along with the music video for lead single "On the Road" on the same twenty-four hours.[10]

In September 2016, the grouping released a Harry Potter-themed album titled Spell, with "Mr. Potter" every bit the lead single.[11] [12] DIA was afterwards separated into 2 "A" and "B" subgroups, named BinChaenHyunSeuS and L.U.B, releasing songs separately.[13] [14]

2017: New members, YOLO and Love Generation [edit]

On April vi, the group released a pre-release unmarried titled "You lot Are My Flower", which featured trot singers Kim Yeon-ja and Hong Jin-young.[xv] DIA's reality show after began airing on Apr nine on the TV network Onstyle, days after 2 new members, Jueun and Somyi, were announced.[xvi] On April 19, the grouping'south second studio album YOLO was released.[17] The album contained fourteen tracks, with the lead single titled "Will You Become Out with Me?".[18] YOLO too included several tracks composed past the members themselves and featured various artists such as rapper DinDin and former I.O.I member Kim Chung-ha.

DIA's third mini-anthology titled Dearest Generation was later released on August 22, 2017.[19] The album contains twelve tracks, with the pb single titled "Tin't End".[xx] On October 12, a repackaged edition of Love Generation, titled Nowadays, was released. It independent the songs from the former, along with 4 new songs with the title track "Practiced Night".[21]

2018: Eunjin'south difference and Summer Ade [edit]

On May 7, 2018, Eunjin announced her deviation from the group, citing health bug.[22] On June 9, 2018, it was reported that DIA would make a comeback on July v, 2018.[23] It had been previously appear that the group were to come up back in April with a rail produced past Shinsadong Tiger.[24] On the mean solar day of the album's purported release, MBK Entertainment released an official statement announcing and apologizing for its postponement saying it was to be released on July 18,[25] merely that did not happen, with the company claiming the postponements were to ensure high-quality fabric.[26] DIA ultimately released on their fourth EP Summer Ade on August 9, 2018, with the title track "Woo Woo".[27] [28] On Baronial xiv, the group received their beginning music show win on SBS MTV's The Show.[29] [xxx]

2019: Newtro and Jenny's deviation [edit]

Initially, it was reported that DIA would brand a comeback on Nov 7, 2018, with a "Bo Peep Bo Peep 2.0" produced past Shinsadong Tiger.[31] However, nothing materialized. On February 20, MBK Entertainment confirmed both DIA'due south improvement and the unmarried's product being handled by Shinsadong Tiger and marks their first release as seven members without Jenny due to a knee injury.[32] On March nineteen, 2019, DIA released their fifth EP titled Newtro alongside its title rail "Woowa", later previous reports of a release on March 28 and 21.[33] [34] [35] On July 6, 2019, MBK Entertainment confirmed that Jenny left the group due to wellness bug with her knee.[36] [37]

2020–present: Blossom four Seasons, Yebin's solo debut and Somyi's deviation [edit]

On May 25, 2020, it was revealed that DIA would make a improvement with their sixth EP Flower 4 Seasons on June ten, marked their first release nether PocketDol Studio.[38] Information technology was confirmed that the group will promote with 5 members as a unit without Chaeyeon & Somyi.[39]

On June 23, 2021, Yebin fabricated her solo debut with the unmarried "Yes I Know".[40]

On January ix, 2022, PocketDol confirmed that Somyi had terminated her contract and left DIA.[41]
